Best-Fit The optimum solution for closure assembly With the Best-Fit process ThyssenKrupp Drauz Nothelfer - in co-operation with Inos-Automation as its partner for sensor technology and image-processing software - has developed an assembly technology which enables the optimum fitting accuracy of the closures during assembly in the automotive production by means of a vision system driven robot. Best-Fit is a flexible process which can be used for the assembly of various closure parts as well as for model variants. The modular Best-Fit concept is based on a sensitive robot which measures both the part and the dimensions of the body by means of optical sensors and determines the gap-optimising position of the door. Thus, the best possible fitting accuracy is achieved for every single assembly process which allows the optimum consideration of the manufacturing tolerances. Best-Fit: a process proven in series production The Best-Fit process has been tried and tested in practice and is already in successful use in the series production of the new Porsche 911 model series for the fully automatic assembly of the doors.
